Apr 3, 2011 · SCT · #3 · Apr 4, 2011. My theory on this, the motor would have to be tuned down to pin point so ALL gas is burned in order to do an EGR delete and gain some power. By doing an EGR delete alone, any unburned gas that collects in the exhaust system could ignite and MAY interrupt the flow of exhaust which decreases some power.... just my theory. .

The exhaust flows from the exhaust port through a channel in the manifold and back into the head. Once you have the exhaust manifold off you will get a better idea of what needs to be done. 22re timing after egr delete . My 22re has been lacking power and has very poor acceleration/torque and I have been trying to diagnose the issue. Timing, spark plugs and compression look good.
