Stihl 046 specs
I was looking at the MS440, 046 and 460. The 440's I hear are great saws but they are hard to find in good condition at a fair price, I think I'm down to the 046 or the 460. There is a used 046 that the guys says is in mint condition, original owner and has ran approx 10 tanks of fuel with a 20" bar for $500.The 056 is an iconic Stihl with a good reputation. It is an 81cc saw that didn’t have a long production run, only being made between 1980 and 1985. There was a Super and Magnum version alongside the standard version of the saw. If you get a 440 I'd dump the 290. There's less then a 1 lb difference and the 440 is a much better performing saw. (it's also Pro vs. Consumer) If you want a 3 saw fleet I'd get the 046/460 to give you some more performance spread from the 290. Thank u i don't like the feel of the new Stihls, nor flip caps. I would definitely prefer a older 066, and 046 compared to the newer series. I'm running a 395 xp now. I would like to see a stock 395 vs a 661. I would not be against trying a 661, but would never part with a 066 for one but man I just don't, like the new seeming bulkier saw.The 066's cylinder is bored to 54 mm with a stroke of 40 mm, while the 088 is bored to 60 mm with a stroke of 43 mm.
